April 19 - July 16, 2000
The Phippen Museum will present a fascinating exhibit featuring
the art work of more than 40 artists who have contributed to the pages of
Arizona Highways Magazine during the past 75 years. A companion exhibit
to Arizona Highways: Celebrating the Legacy -- Our Land, Our People, the exhibit will celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the magazine's
rich contribution to the history of Arizona. (left: Ted De Grazia,

In addition to staff artists employed by the magazine,
editors have included illustrations
and art work by some of America's leading artists
over the years. "Cockfight," an oil by Ted
De Grazia and commissioned by Raymond Carlson, the first editor
of the magazine, will be included, as well as drawings and paintings by
such luminaries as Duane Bryers, Bill Ahrendt, Roy Andersen, Ken Riley,
Frank Lloyd Wright, Robert McCall, Frank McCarthy, and Olaf
Wieghorst. (right: Bill Keane, Family Circus Daily Cartoon
