Jackson
January 23 - April 24, 2016
The Delaware Art Museum's
community-generated Outlooks Exhibition Series showcases regional artists
of national and international stature in the Outlooks
Gallery.
The current Outlooks exhibition, Inside Out: Carol Tippit Woolworth,
Catherine Drabkin, Pahl Alexander Hluchan, Colleen Randall, Daniel Jackson,
is on view January 23 through April 24, 2016. (right: Carol Tippit

The Delaware Art Museum accepts proposals for Outlooks
exhibitions from organizations, community groups, and residents of the surrounding
area. The series contributes to the Museum's mission of providing an inclusive
and essential community resource. All Outlooks exhibitions are displayed
in the Ammon Galleries on the Museum's second floor. For more information,
please visit delart.org/exhibitions/outlook-exhibition-series.
Inside Out features regional
painters Carol Tippit Woolworth, Catherine Drabkin, Pahl Alexander Hluchan,
Colleen Randall, and Daniel Jackson. Each of the artists explores the concept
of "place" -- physical, emotional, and spiritual -- in their work,
which ranges from abstract to realistic. Carol Tippit Woolworth's oil paintings
are experiments in color, form, and shape, capturing the landcapes and villages
of southeast France. Catherine Drabkin creates interior and still-life scenes
in oil and gouache -- expressed in muted or brilliant colors -- to summon
up cherished memories. Pahl Alexander Hluchan employs gouache to explore
the forms and shadows of both nature and architecture. In Colleen Randall's
abstract oil paintings, color and surface evoke not just a physical place
but its spiritual essence. Daniel Jackson is a realist painter in oil, bringing
observed objects and locales to life on canvas.
Carol Tippit Woolworth is the coordinator for the exhibition.
Inside Out was organized by the Delaware Art Museum. Support is provided
by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated
to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the
National Endowment for the Arts.

Statement of coordinator (artist Carol Tippit Woolworth)
Carrying on a tradition that stretches from the writings
of St. Augustine to Bach's Goldberg Variations to Collette's fascination
with an earthly paradise, the five artists in this exhibition have embarked
on a continuing search for a moment of pure being -- a flash of truth that
constantly renews the bridge between past and future -- that lures them
ever forward into deeper and more profound works. These epiphanies are sensuously
documented before disappearing into the past or slipping away into the future.
Through painting, the artists have entered upon a spiritual
journey to explore the fragility and strength of their personal truths.
They have steadily worked to expose their innermost sacred place; to search
out the fleeting beauty of the everyday; to rediscover lost and cherished
memories; to capture the elusiveness of consciousness; and to uncover the
archeological layering of time through painted imagery. Their explorations,
exhibited within these walls, are the vivid results, and come with an invitation
to all to pursue the quest in finding one's own sacred space.
