A Cast of Characters: Figurative Sculpture

January 23 - March 26, 2000

You won't believe your eyes! Is it a real person or a sculpture? The fascinating figures by artist Duane Hanson will leave you wondering. Marvel at the teenage boy, tourist with camera and flea market vendor. How about a green living room filled with purple dogs? You'll find it difficult to pull yourself away from Sandy Skoglund's wonderful creation, In addition to the whimsical, A Cast of Characters also features the classical bronze sculptures of Robert Graham and the famed plaster figures of sculptor George Segal. Ellen Landis, curator of art at The Albuquerque Museum, says A Cast of Characters is the perfect millennium exhibition. Ms. Landis says the history of figurative sculpture can be traced back to earlier millennia and this exhibit shows how artists today continue the tradition. While Robert Graham uses traditional bronze, the other artists in A Cast of Characters use more contemporary materials such as plaster, plastic resin and even artificial grass!

Don't miss these masters of sculpture together in one unique exhibition.
