30/30: Thirty Works by Art Students League of New York Alumni 1965-95

The Art Students League of New York will exhibit the work of thirty of its present and former students in the school's second-floor gallery at 215 West 57th Street. The juried exhibition, titled 30/30, features sculpture, prints and paintings done by artists who studied at the school between 1965 and 1995. Selections were made by a committee of League instructors including Bill Behnken, Peter Cox, Harvey Dinnerstein, Sylvie Germain-Covey, Catherine Redmond, Seiji Saito, William Scharf and Gary Lawrence Sussman. The exhibition will be on view from from October 18 through November 10, 1999.

More than 300 artists submitted work for consideration when the exhibition was announced last spring. The only requirement was a minimum of nine months spent at the League between 1965 and 1995. The selected works represent diverse styles and techniques.

"The quality and range of works," notes League executive director Joanne Kuebler, "reflect the teaching environment of the League, where above all, students are encouraged to find their own voice."
