The Norton Art Gallery is well known for its collection of American Western Art, with the main attractions being the works of Charles Marion Russell and Frederic Remington. Russell's pictorial history of the Wild West contains, in detail and vivid color, his life among Indians, cattle drives, buffalo hunts, and the Indians' war against the white man. The bronze sculpture collection by Russell is one of the largest and most complete ever assembled (136 subjects). Highlights are one of Russell's largest paintings in oil, The Trappers' Last Stand (1899).
